Reebok, founded in 1895, by Joe and Jeff Foster. It was initially called Mercury Sports, but was renamed as Reebok in 1960. Reebok International Limited is an Anglo-American subsidiary of Adidas AG and manufacturer of athletic footwear, apparel and accessories. The name is the Afikaans/Dutch spelling of the word Rhebok, atype of African antelope or gazelle. Reebok became more popular in 1982 after launching the Freestyle athletic shoe designed for men and came out when aerobics fitness craze began. In the late 1980’s, the Reebok introduced the pump line which also became very popular. Reebok is now in possession of German footwear giant Adidas.
